Cheddar Beef Burgers

Yields: 6 Servings Difficulty: Medium Cook Time: 10 Mins

If you enjoy grilling every summer you probably love the chargrilled taste of a great burger.  My Cheddar Beef Burgers help you easily create a cheeseburger on the grill without worrying about adding cheese at the end.  I place the cheddar cheese in the center of the burger and it melts inside while the burger is cooking.  Feel free to try any type of cheese you enjoy.  I like to use ground chuck hamburger meat for my burgers but feel free to use whatever type your family likes.  One pound of ground meat usually makes 6 burgers.  Try not to make the burgers too thick or they will take a lot longer to cook.  Serve burgers with some fixings like – sliced onion, sliced tomatoes, lettuce, pickles, ketchup, mustard, and relish.

  • Make burgers - soak bread for a minute in the milk, squeeze gently to remove liquid. Dice up onion and garlic into small pieces. Then, In a large mixing bowl add hamburger meat, egg, bread, onion, ketchup, parsley, garlic, and salt and pepper. Mix all ingredients together with a spoon.
  • Cut cheddar cheese into small, thick blocks. Take a cheddar block and surround it with the hamburger meat and form it into a large circle or patty. Be sure to cover the cheese completely with the meat.
  • Turn your grill onto medium high heat and let it warm up. Oil the grill grates by using a paper towel dipped in vegetable oil. Place burgers on grill and leave untouched for 5 minutes putting down the grill cover. Turn over with a metal grill spatula and continue cooking to desired temperature. The burgers only need to be turned once. Don't press down on the burgers or the cheese will ooze out and juices will be lost. Let burgers sit for a few minutes before serving on a toasted bun.
