Hi, my name is Chef Florence Bennett. I wanted to start a food blog so I could share my love of cooking and knowledge of culinary arts with everyone. I’m a Jersey girl, born and raised in South Jersey where I still live. As most people know, our local farmers grow a lot of fresh fruits and vegetables right here in South Jersey. I’ll be sharing many recipes using ingredients like Jersey corn on the cob, tomatoes, bell peppers, blueberries, peaches and strawberries.

My daughter, Melanie, a Pediatrician, will be helping me out with some tasty Vegetarian dishes that she enjoys making.

My family spent a lot of time at the Jersey Shore soaking up the sun and fun, so I’ll be sharing some great local fish recipes. If you enjoy cooking on your grill, I’ll be making some mouth-watering barbecue style dishes, too.

I also enjoy baking wonderful homemade dessert delicacy’s like Peach Strawberry Pan Dowdy, rich Dark Chocolate cake and some special Italian cookies, like Pizzelles, inspired from my beautiful, Italian mother.

I attended JNA Institute of Culinary Arts in Philadelphia and received my degree in Culinary Arts and Restaurant Management. I spent a number of years working in professional kitchens as a Chef and then answered my calling to teach. I became a Chef Instructor at my alma mater, JNA, after receiving my FMP designation (Food Management Professional) and spent over 15 years teaching aspiring culinary arts students. I loved the passion, creatively and enthusiasm of my students for anything food related. My students nicknamed me Chef Flo. They said my words were always flowing, lol! Now that I’m retired, I hope to share some of my passion and expertise with everyone on the internet.
