Honey Dijon Mustard Ham Steak

Yields: 6 Servings Difficulty: Medium Cook Time: 30 Mins

It’s springtime and I love to bake a delicious Fresh Ham Steak for my family.  Ham is pork from a leg cut that has been preserved by wet or dry curing, with or without smoking.  It’s high in protein at 29 grams per cup but low in calories, carbs, fat & fiber.  My Honey Dijon Mustard Ham Steak is an easy, tasty dish that you can just pop in the oven and let it bake.  The sauce is also simple to make in the microwave by mixing some honey, dijon mustard and a little butter.  I’m using a Fresh Ham Steak so you’ll need to cook it until the internal temperature reaches 165*,  about 30-40 minutes at 325*.  The sauce goes on the ham steak the last 5 minutes of cooking time.  Serve some of the honey dijon mustard sauce on the side as a gravy.  Happy Cooking!

  • Preheat oven to 325*. Place aluminum foil on a cookie sheet and using a paper towel rub with oil or shortening to grease it. Place ham steak onto pan and sprinkle with salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Bake for 30-40 minutes until internal temperature reaches 165*.
  • To make the sauce, place honey, dijon mustard and butter into a small microwave safe bowl. Make two batches if you want to serve sauce on the table. Heat on high for one minute. Stir using a whisk until smooth and creamy. Set aside until ham is almost fully cooked.
  • Once ham is almost finished cooking brush honey/mustard sauce onto ham steak and place back in oven for 5 more minutes. If you made two batches of sauce you'll have a dish for the table. Check internal temperature which should read at least 165*. Serve warm with extra sauce.
